Greek Week 2009

Last night was the start of Greek week! As you can see we kicked it off with the lighting of the torch! The theme this year is Greekelodeon, yes you remember Nick in the 90s, Double Dare 2000, slime, the giant nose, we have it all and more. This week is for all Greeks to compete against each other, in a friendly competition and at the end of the week all the points are tallied up and a winner is revealed. More information will come later, right now im off to class and then the first events of Greek Week!

The Last Day

Monday we packed up and left. Although that morning we made pancakes over the fire! they were so good, better than making them on a stove. It was a lazy morning, no one really wanted to leave and was slow to pack up things. Laura had some time to make a fishing pole out of a tab from a can and some string and wood. She didnt catch anything, the fish were on to us. Everyone had a great time and we are thinking of making it a yearly sister event!

Our Campsite

This is the view from the walk up from the cabin. We had our tents in a line and a little area for the fire pit and a table for food. The pond to the left was a little questionable, haha Laura tried to catch fish from it with a makeshift pole. We had to stick all the food in the cars for the last 2 nights because Lizzy thought there was a bear in the area. Nothing happened but we just wanted to make sure. Sunday we did the same thing, woke up made breakfast, went down to swim and hang out all day. It was defiantly a worry free weekend.

The next day we woke up, made ourselves some breakfast, eggs, toasted bagels, english muffins all over the campfire. It was great. Then we went for a hike through the woods, which we all thought was going to be on a path but nope, just trampled through it all. Haha so funny. Afterwards we were all hot and decieded to go down to the resivor. This is the spare drinking water for the town, so technically you are not supposed to be swimming in it. But everyone does so you know. The picture to the left is of the bridge, it was rusted and burnt, abandoned some time ago. We had so much fun jumping off of it and hanging out all day. The weather was beatiful all day. It was nice and hot and the water was so refreashing. Afterwards we went back to camp and cooked up some dinner and hung out all night!

Sorority Retreat: Camping in the Poconos

This year my sorority went Camping! for labor day weekend. One of the girls Oma and Opa (thats German for gandma and grandpa), had this log cabin and they let us stay there. Well not in the cabin actually since that is where they live. We camped out by a pond that was up a little path from the house. I came up friday night with a car full of girls, we met up with a couple that went ahead. When we got there the fire was roaring and everyone was already having a good time! This weekend was sweet it was just the sisters and we really bonded and got to know each other some more. Everyone got a long great, haha.

This is the view from outside my rom. I looked over one day and it was so sweet seeing the moon, not that you can really see it in this picture, hanging out over Allman. Delval is so pretty in the summer/fall.

Greek Week!

This year for Greek Week we are going all out! The theme GREEKALODIAN. Oh yes. We are going to have slime, the gaint nose from Double Dare, a Toga Dance! It is gonna be amazing! I helped paint some pieces for it and these are just some joints that we are making for rafters. More pictures will come for this event!

This was our house, it was interestingly set up. We lived on the top floor of the house and a different family lived on the bottom. The only way to get up to our part was a set of stairs ont he side. But there was a nice outdoor shower! Always love those. Anyways Saturday we packed up and headed back to DelVal.

Puzzle Wars!

The day looked like it was going to be a good day, so we headed down to the beach and played some football and flew kites. But of course we got caught in the rain and had to walk home. Not really a big deal, but what do you do at the beach when it rains? Have puzzle wars! It was Arianna and I against Liz, Dani and Deb. And guess who won! Ar and I did even though our puzzle is missing a piece :( It took a good portion of the day to do this but by 4 o'clock we decieded that it was nice enough to ty and head down to the beach again. We got down there and of course ran into some more trouble, the lifegaurd wouldn't let us in the water because there was thunder in the area! So we waited until they left and hopped in anyways along side the surfers. There were instense waves but it was super fun! We swam for about an hour and turned around and saw huge dark storm clouds rolling in and thats when we deiceded to get out. We had perfect timing though as soon as we got to the house it started pouing again!We spent the rest of the night playing cards games and goofing around. It was a lot of fun and a good way to end the summer.

Jersey Shore

Lizzy and I traveled to the Jersey shore, to meet up with Deb and Ar, after hitting much traffic and thinking that we got lost twice; we finally find the signs for Stone Harbor. It was nice the beach was just down the road, a 2 minute walk. But of course the whole week was beaituful and the day we get there is rains. But we made the best of everything. We went to Wildwood boardwalk, I have never been to a boardwalk before. It was like a permanet carnival almost. There were carnival games, roller coaster, water rides, tattoo palors, tee-shirts. It was intesne I have never seen anything like it before.

Kate and I went to the Laundry mat today, since our washer is broken and wont be fixed anytime soon because Sears messed up. We sat and watched out laundry flop around in the dryers. Not too much exciting things happen in a laundry mat though.

Sun for the Sunflowers

Another hard picture to choose. I love sunflowers. One time when I was little my mom had a garden full of enormous sunflowers. It was seriously like a jungle of them. Every since I have always held them in a special place.

Shinny

Shinny buttons caught my eye. Kate took our jar of buttons and poured them out all over the table, so she could find a couple to use for her engagement party. Kate and I had fun taking pictures of them! I think the hardest part of this project is actually choosing the picture to post. There were so many button pictures that i had to narrow down, and there are so many things to consider in choosing the right one too. Well anyways I hope you enjoy the shininess like I did!

Rusty

Here is Rusty. My favorite cat at Save a Pet. He has such an angry face on but he loves to be pet. I would adopt him if I could.

Shamus enjoyed the thunderstorm outside. She was fascinated maybe with the breeze or the rain. Either way she sat in the window sill for a while and finally popped her head out.

Pencil Pushing

I was called into work on Thursday, just so I could stuff, label and stamp over 1000 envlopes. It was the most boring, mindless, repetitive task ever. I know that I would never want a job as a pencil pusher. I can't do paperwork all day. Anyways took almost 8 hours to do it but I got it done!

Macadamia/ Harry

Not sure which name is really his, either Macadamia or Harry. I call him Harry but he is a 10 month old black and white cat. He is super cute but a little crazy. You would be too if you had to live in a cage all day. I'm trying to work with him to make him more approachable and friendly. He already is friendly but gets frightened easily. There are so many cute cats at Save a Pet.

Crazy

Lucas is a crazy cat and decieded that it would be fun to jump up to the top shelf of our coat closet! He's got super blue eyes in this picture though.

Fun Day

Today Matt, Joshua, Erin, Indy and I went up to the school yard and played frisbee and swung on the swings! It was great fun! Of course the sun came out as soon as we got there and it was hot! But never the less we still played in the sun. Afterwards Matt and I made dinner. Cooked bugers, potatoes and made some salad. And after dinner since it was still nice out Matt and I went back up to the schoolyard and played frisbee again with Indy. It was a great day, at the end our feet were black with dirt!

Good Luck Lady Bug

I found this ladybug and I was going to put it outside when it jumped onto my hand and wouldn't leave. I seriously walked around the house with this ladybug on me. I was even able to grab my camera and take this shot. I finally sat outside to let it go but it wouldn't. It refused the go onto any of the plants around me. Finally I was albe to get it off. I felt specail that it stayed for so long though. :)

Amazing Prymind of Goodness!

Erin and I created this amazing Reese's Peanut Butter Cup for her friend Traci! This has 48 Reese's in and was super tall. We stood the ones up on top to have a grander effect on it all.

Swimming Lesson

Today Shamus wanted to learn how to swim! haaha no really me and Erin were defrosting some cheese in the sink and I thought that it might be fun for shamus to get wet. At first she didn't like it but I think she got used to it!

Sailboats Galore

Got off of work an hour early and deiceded that it was too nice of a day to go straight home. So I made a pit stop at Cedar beach but it was so crowded that I didn't stay for long. Just long enough to capture these lovely sailbaots.

A lovely drive through the campus before I left. Everyone came to the train station to see me off. There was Debbie, Kv, Lizzy and Pat! I'm so happy that I got to see everyone, wish my time there wasn't so short!

Debbie and I went to our favorite park, the Covered Bridge Park! It has all the old school playground euipment, basically the best playground ever! We played on the see-saw, but unfourtunly I forgot that see-saw always turns violent. It was that much fun for me after a while. lol

After staying over Kv's house the night before, Arianna, KV and I made amazing breakfast! We also got Ar a birthday cake and ice cream because her birthday was the day before. We deiceded to eat it at a park considering the day was so nice out. Aterwards we hung out at Bill's house for a while and did other random things as usual
