Sluggish Day

In the middle of our driveway right now there is a big pile of dirt that we have been spreading around the yard. We keep it covered with a tarp but with all this rain recently we need to take the tarp off to let it dry out. Today we removed it and there must have been over 20 slugs under it! They were just hanging out along with numerous other bugs! Slugs are actually nice colors and tones. Thought I might highlight one of them.

Taffy Pulling!

Matt, Mitch and I had a great idea to make taffy one night! Mixing all the ingredients together was the easy part, the pulling of the taffy apparently takes a skill. I do not posses this skill and neither really do Matt or Mitch. Haha we tried to pull the taffy for over an hour and it just didnt turn out quite so right. It still tasted like taffy but no the right consistency. Oh well it was still so much fun to do!

Jetty Jumping

My favorite thing to do in Pt. Lookout. Climb the jetty rocks that line the side of the beach. When we were kids, we used to jump from rock to rock as fast as we could. Friday afternoon Kate and I went out to eat lunch at Olive Oils. It was good, we split a pinni and thank goodness we did. It was a huge sand which! Afterwards we went for a walk and climbed the rocks and then the sun finally came out around 3 and we headed off to the beach but this time put on sunscreen.

Sidebeach Adventure.

Thursday Vinny and Erin came down for the day because the lure of filming a movie that day. We spent the afternoon at the beach and all got sun burnt. At low tide we went to investigate the changing sandbars at the side beach. Choosing a picture from this day was hard, I liked a lot of them. I settled on this one because I like seaweed and the glittering water in the background. That night we sat out on the dock and watched some of the documentary being filmed. Its called Boardwalk Empire and should be out by January.

A Day in Pt. Lookout

Wednesday Kate and I took a trip down to Pt Lookout to see our Uncle and Anut, our cousin and grandma. Since I wasn't going to be able to make it to the family party on Sunday, I went down to see everyone before they left.We were fouruante enough to have nice weather while down there. This is a picture of my Uncles sailboat! And its a beauty! My Anut and Uncle have actually been sailing on it up and down the east caost for almost a year! We got down there jsut in time for diner and man does Laurie make good dinners. It was two nights of amazing meals! Still love that part about being home, always something good to eat instead of cafe food.

U.S. Open Playoffs

Monday I went to the U.S. Open on the Bethpage Black course. And let me tell you Golf is a lot more fun in person than on t.v. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to bring a camera on the course so I couldn't take any pictures of the beaituful course. Even though the ticket is for Thursday, I got to go on Monday because all Thursday tickets were refunded for than. I got to see the final rounds, it was really cool. I sat at the 17th hole so I got to see all the players go through and play. It was exciting, I wanted Glover to win and he did!! We got to see them finsh on the 18th hole too. Although we were far away, you could still make them out.We had this little radios, the white thing in the middle, and it basically was the commentary you would hear on tv. The best was for the 18th hole becasue I could see the crowd recat before I heard what happened. Luckily the weather held out and it was only overcast and no rain until we got in the car to go home. It was definalty a fun experince!

Enrichment Box.

Since the rat destroys everything I make her in a matter of minutes. I decieded to make her an enrichment bow. Took about 30 minutes to make, cutting all the slits in the cardboard was really annoying. I stuffed it full of goodies right before I went to bed and she spent the night working at it. Of course she figured it out. I taped the sides down to make it a step harder but she just tore off the top after trying to chew it a bit.

Wheelbarrel.

Yup Kate thought it would be fun to ride in the wheel barrel after Erin shoveled dirt around in it. This wheel barrel is quite old at least 50 years, im surprised it still held up Kate. haha

And the choas begins.

Today Kate came home for the summer! and with her she brought her two cats. The picture to the right is of Harley, but that name is long forgotten because Kate and Vinny call him a combination of names. The one that sticks the most is Fuzzy. Of course Leo thinks that he is king of the house and all he does is hiss and growl and Kates cats. Lucas seems not to be bothered by any of this and just continues on. I think it annoys Leo a bit. I enjoy watching this happen.

Baby Robin

I found a baby robin, that had fallen into one of the window sills outside. I looked up and could hear all the robins in the big oak trying to find their little baby. So I found some latex gloves to catch the bird. Appartenly they wont take a bird back if it smells like a human. So I cornered this tiny bird, meanwhile it is screaming its heads off causing everyone else to be in up in a roar. I got him out of the sill and placed in by the duck pen, so the others could see where he was. Although he was quite frightened and ran off under the bushes. I wasn't sure if they got him back safely or not until a day or so later. I was sitting on my front porch reading, when all of a sudden robin flies up and lands on the railing next to me. We both just stared at each other, I told the robin that he was welcome. He stayed for a bit longer than left. I'm glad I made a difference for the poor baby.

Relaxing

Today Matt and I walked into Home Goods and sat on all the chairs. This one was by far the most comfortable. And my o-chi shirt almost matches it!!

The end of an the Comsewogue Era.

This is my little sister Erin and her friend Michelle signing their yearbooks. As Erin graduates at the end of the month, it will mark the end of the O'Sheas regin at Comsewogue. We have held our post there for at least 19 years. Erin is the last to graduate and just getting out in time. It's a bittersweet goodbye. But i would much rather be in college than lame high school again.

Regis. Moris. Chirpie

This is our new cat Morris or my personal favoite Chirpie. I call him that because he doesn't actually meow but instead makes these really odd almost chirp like sounds. I love the way he looks in this picture. His ears all curved up. Oh yeah he is the softest cat that I have ever pet. Its amazing.

Delicous Treats

Matt has become addicted to watching the food network channel and has subsquentially gotten Lisa and I addicted too. We watch it so often that we criticze the hosts. lol Well Matt, Lisa and I decieded to make some food. First we hand squeezed lemonade, yes we cut up lemons and squeezed them. Of course Matt and his little bro somehow squirted themselves in the eye. And we all had cuts on our hands, it was fun but slighty hurt. lol Later that night we decied to make Star-spangled short cake. It took forever because Matt didnt read the directions beforehand, so each set was a surprise and kind of disatrous. We didn't realize that you had to chill the dough for an hour or so. Haha the process took us untill almost 12 at night and by that time we were just like 'we have to try it before we go home. all our hard work' But it turned out delicous. Omg really amazing. I would love to make it again. It was a great day of baking experinces and Matt learned to read the directions fully before taking on a task like this again.

Crazy Colors!

I have just recently bought some new paints and decieded to paint for the first time in what seems like years. I don't know how I got this idea, just sitting there one day and it popped into my head. I wanted to do a crazy colorful background. I actually painted it for one of my soroity sister's birthday. I am excited to start another painting.

Moonshine.

Deb and Liz just moved into their new room in South Hall a couple of days before I got there, so much of there room was still under construction. We were trying to decide what tapestry to put over the obnoxious light in the middle of the room. We tried a couple of them but this one defianlty looked the coolest while sitting on the floor. The bright light from behind just makes the mushroom look really cool. But this one did not win, we decieded to go with a different one that gave off a yellow hue to it. It was sad leaving on Friday, especailly because it mostly rained all morning. I don't think I can last all summer without seeing everyone again. I will defianlty have to make at least one more trip there.

Summer bloom at DelVal

The best time to visit or live at DelVal is in the summer. It seriously is the prettiest time of the year and it is unforunate that no one really gets to enjoy it over the summer. Wednesday I walked around campus taking pictures of all the flowers in bloom. I did that early in the morning when the sun was still shinning. At noon there was a bbq for the people and faculty who work on campus. So of course I went and got lunch, unforuntely Deb and Liz ran off to class right after we grabbed food only to find out that it had been postpone till 1 o'clock. I ate my lunch of the front of work stoop. It was nice looking out at the green grass of the quad. Although it started to get a bit chilly so I went back to the room to grab a sweatshirt and within minutes of getting inside it of course starts to rain. But at least I got to take some pretty pictures in the morining. Something about this picutre I just loved, I'm not sure why though.

Marf!

This is my favortie cat ever! Her name is Marlowe but I have changed it to Marf. In leui of getting everyone to call her barf, just for the heck of it. Tuesday after taking care of some business in the morning and hanging out with Arianna before she had to leave, I hung out with Dani and Heather. Two of my sorority sisters and we went out to lunch. We went to Applebee's and I got a salad with chicken and got the bigger portion and scarfed it down somehow. Anyways lunch was good and then we went back to see Dani's and Heather's new apartment. They have the biggest living ever, they are able to fit 4 couches in there and still could have a dance party comfortably with 15 people in it. It is in a cute little appartment complex and a lot of windows and light come it. It was so much fun getting to see dani and Heather, I havent hung out with them in a while. It was great catching up. I miss everyone already. Especailly the cute, uncordinated Marf.

Chatty Cathy!

This past week I went down to P.a. to visit my friends and sorority sisters. After a horrible train diabical, I fianlly made it. It took me 2 trains to get to Jamica Station, one subway to get to Penn Station, after missing my amtrak I was able to catch a later one, and then another train. In total it was 3 trains, 1 subway and 1 amtrak. But while I was in 30th street station in Philly, I noticed this group of pigeons just standing around talking, probably chatting it up about when the next train was due. All in all even though I missed my amtrak I still made it there and it was a good week.
